Your role as Commercial Director

As the Commercial Director for Precision Solutions you play a pivotal role in shaping and driving the division's commercial strategy, ensuring alignment with the organization’s growth objectives. Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer (CCO), this role involves strategic oversight and tactical management of sales activities across the precision technology product lines, including advanced cameras, motors and actuators, motion drives and integrated systems.

Leading a team of six direct reports—comprising four Global Sales Managers and two Account Managers—you will guide and empower your team to foster robust client relationships, optimize revenue streams, and ensure that sales processes are tightly aligned with the organization's financial and strategic goals. The role also encompasses driving growth in revenue of €80 to €110 million, contributing significantly to the division’s overall success.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Strategic Sales Leadership and Execution: Design and implement sales strategies to expand market share, drive cross-selling, and focus on high-value customer segments using a targeted funnel approach.
  • Team Leadership and Development: Manage and develop a team of Global Sales Managers and Account Managers, setting KPIs and ensuring a results-driven culture with regular performance reviews.
  • Customer Acquisition and Relationship Management: Drive client acquisition and retention by focusing on high-potential accounts and reducing engagement with low-yield customers, working closely with account managers on key clients.
  • Financial and Performance Management: Set and monitor financial and operational goals to achieve targeted operating margin, providing regular reports to senior management on sales performance.
  • Sales Process Optimization: Improve sales processes, ensuring efficient reporting, client engagement, and pipeline management, with structured weekly “pitstop” meetings to review key metrics.
  • Collaboration with Business Line Leadership: Partner with the Business Line Director, Technology Lead, and Development Lead to align sales strategies with product development and customer feedback.
  • Market Analysis and Strategy Adjustment: Conduct market analysis to identify trends, adjust strategies, and focus efforts on high-growth opportunities while exiting low-value segments.
  • Reporting and Cross-Functional Coordination: Maintain open communication with senior leadership, reporting on performance and providing proactive solutions for sales and operational challenges.
  • This role involves approximately 20%-25% of travel to support customer engagements and build relationships in key markets. The Commercial Director is expected to maintain a strong in-office presence, ensuring consistent oversight of team activities and alignment with the division’s long-term growth trajectory.

You recognize yourself in the following:

  • 3-5+ years of experience.
  • Experience as a commercial leader, preferably in international B2B manufacturing and/or engineering environments.
  • Experience with solution selling.
  • Strong business acumen and financial understanding.
  • Fluent in English, Dutch is highly preferred.
