Prysmian Delft produces, among other things, land cables for energy transmission and distribution. In addition, the company offers a wide range of products and services in the field of energy and telecommunications cable systems. Approximately 440 employees work in Delft.

As a Production Manager at the Delft location, you lead the Production department, which consists of approximately 125 employees (including 100 permanent staff and 25 temporary workers). Your team comprises 6 team leaders. The work is carried out in a 5-shift system within a 24/7 production environment. You report directly to the Plant Manager.

Your role as Production Manager

In this challenging role, you are responsible for the daily management, professionalization, and optimization of the entire production process. 

Together with the Plant Manager, you establish a clear business strategy and vision focused on further growth and development. You translate this strategic plan into measurable objectives and action plans for production. You monitor the progress of projects and results, intervening when necessary. Additionally, you ensure the well-being, motivation, and proper knowledge levels of the employees and are responsible for optimal staffing.

As a natural leader, you build a strong team and lead in a directive and coaching manner. You challenge employees and create a culture where people work safely, with quality awareness and a proactive attitude, while being encouraged to take initiatives. You ensure that everyone feels accountable for the results of their own activities. Moreover, you make sure agreements are upheld and goals are achieved.

Below is a brief summary of the responsibilities:

  • Plan, direct, and monitor all production activities within an assigned area or unit to maximize the use of the organization’s resources and meet established production specifications and schedules; volume, cost, and wastage targets; and quality standards;
  • Develop and implement manufacturing schedules and procedures and allocate labor and capital resources to maximize productivity;
  • Analyze production, malfunction records to identify problems and recommend solutions (for example changes to procedures, workflow, or equipment) that will improve performance;
  • Liaise with functional or operational area managers (for example in supply and logistics, or sales) to understand their current and future product needs and develop plans, cost estimates, and schedules for integrating these needs into existing manufacturing activities;
  • Liaise with Maintenance to Plan, prioritize, and manage production line maintenance or downtimes to minimize disruptions to manufacturing schedules;
  • Lead, direct, evaluate, and develop a team of supervisors who are responsible for various production activities such as assembly, machine operation, processing, treating, or packaging.

As a People Manager and connector, you excel at building strong relationships with employees on the shop floor. You are an enthusiastic and decisive personality who demonstrates leadership, with a clear vision of process and people management. You are a strategic (long-term) thinker with strong leadership qualities but remain pragmatic in your approach.

You are a team player with excellent interpersonal skills, communicating clearly, warmly, balanced, and convincingly in a direct and to-the-point manner. You set the right priorities, possess excellent management skills, and have experience working with multicultural teams.
Key personal qualities you bring to this role include analytical thinking, resilience under pressure, problem-solving skills, and the ability to connect with others.

The ideal candidate will meet the following criteria:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree, preferably in Engineering;
  • At least 5 years of proven experience as a Production Manager, preferably in the engineering sector within a manufacturing environment;
  • Affinity with technology;
  • Excellent command of both Dutch and English, spoken and written (Turkish is a plus).
