IDEX Materials Science Solutions (MSS) is a newly established group within IDEX, consisting of 11 materials science businesses across 14 locations in the US, Europe, and Asia. These businesses include Advanced Thin Films, CVI Laser, Iridian Spectral Technologies, Superior Technical Ceramics, Tecan Limited, Veco B.V., Atul, Veco Precision India Pvt. Ltd., Millux B.V., and Louwers Hanique B.V.

Your role as Vice President & General Manager Global Semiconductors

The Vice President & General Manager (VP/GM), Global Semiconductors, is responsible for the sales strategy within the Semiconductor Market Business Team of IDEX MSS. This currently includes CVI, STC, Millux B.V., and Louwers Hanique B.V., with a combined annual revenue of $102 million. The VP/GM focuses on developing and executing a strategic growth plan to drive sales and strengthen market position in the global semiconductor industry. 

Reporting directly to the President of IDEX MSS, the VP/GM will manage all commercial-facing functions, including Applications Engineering, Product Management, Program Management, and Sales. This role also provides matrixed leadership to Site Leaders, Human Resources, and Finance within the Semiconductor Business Units. The VP/GM will be a key member of the MSS senior leadership team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute the strategic growth plan for the Semiconductor Business Units in alignment with MSS and IDEX goals.
  • Serve as a thought leader and establish winning strategies for accelerated growth in key semiconductor markets.
  • Build and maintain executive relationships with major customers, serving as a strategic partner to key stakeholders.
  • Lead the annual market-based STRAP (Strategic Planning) process and identify opportunities for inorganic growth in collaboration with the CTO.
  • Drive financial performance, including revenue growth and product line profitability, with a focus on achieving long-term double-digit sector growth.
  • Build and lead a customer-facing organization that integrates sales, engineering, applications, and program management disciplines.
  • Champion breakthrough and transformative initiatives that enhance market positioning and customer share-of-wallet.
  • Establish effective leadership cadences, including Commercial Monthly Business Reviews (MBR), to drive forecasting, pipeline management, and financial performance.
  • Collaborate with the VP of Operations to consolidate operations, scale global capabilities, and create technology competence centers.
  • Utilize market segmentation to identify new product and application opportunities and drive the organization to capture them.
  • Coach and mentor high-performing teams, building bench strength and developing future leaders for MSS and IDEX.

Your experience and credibility enable you to influence internal and external stakeholders at all levels, ensuring alignment and driving desired outcomes.

With a track record of driving profitable growth in highly competitive environments, you have successfully managed or collaborated with manufacturing operations to meet customer needs efficiently, even in fast-paced, high-variation product settings. You are well-versed in lean manufacturing principles, using KPIs and process improvements to drive operational excellence.

Your leadership style is defined by humility and collaboration—always maintaining a low ego and a strong focus on teamwork. Furthermore, you recognize yourself in the following: 

  • Strong educational credentials, with a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university; an Advanced degree is highly desired.
  • Extensive experience in the semiconductor industry is a must.
  • Minimum 15 years of progressive experience ideally with a track record as a global P&L leader within an engineered products manufacturing business.
  • General management experience is highly desirable.
  • Understand how to apply 80/20 and Lean tools to manage a business more effectively.
  • Ability to travel approximately up to 45% of the time.
